Galaxy Note 3 costs $240 to build, Samsung taking home meaty profits

The Galaxy Note 3 doesn’t exactly have a huge list of negatives, and the one most glaring negative doesn’t exactly have anything to do with the device’s hardware or features. That negative is its high price, and according to a teardown report, Samsung is taking home some hefty profit on each Note 3 sold, as the phablet costs only around $240 to make.

That’s around $20 more than the Note II, with the faster processor, higher RAM, and better display being the main reasons for the increased build cost. As always, some folks will find cause to defend the high price tag, but that won’t change the fact that big name manufacturers are becoming more and more greedy by the day, and it is exactly the reason why Chinese manufacturers, with their low-cost high-spec devices, are attracting consumers in droves.
