The Galaxy S series of smartphones has Samsung rise to the top in the mobile market, with every Galaxy S flagship resulting in multi-million sales and positive critical reception. However, according to a report by ETNews, Samsung’s not willing to sit idle and rest on its laurels, and is apparently working on super premium range of flagship devices, dubbed “Project F.”
The Korean manufacturer reportedly isn’t satisfied with releasing just two flagship devices each year (a Galaxy S device, followed by the Galaxy Note), as it believes it’s not enough to keep up with the latest trends. These premium handsets will be the answer, with the first such premium device set to launch early next year with all the latest tech, such as a 16-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and octa-core Exynos CPU, and a full metal body and sleek new design. We’ll likely also see a flexible display being used, though Samsung is reportedly not decided on the screen size just yet.
These devices – let’s suppose they’ll be called Galaxy F – will be priced higher than the Galaxy Note 3 and will be produced in limited batches, as production in high-quantities will likely be a challenge, at least in the beginning. The idea of a premium range that follows latest trends (smartphones made of metal instead of cheap-feeling plastic being a prime example here) does make sense, but whether it proves to be another hit for Samsung is something that remains to be seen.
